You Renew Twice a Year in Oregon. One of Them Changes Price.

Everything attributed to ZenBusiness below comes from their published pricing, captured in a July 2026 review, and is quoted as we found it.

Credit Where It Belongs

The software is the best thing about ZenBusiness and we will not be coy about it. Their dashboard is clean, the compliance calendar is legible, and a first-time owner can find things without a support ticket. Plenty of companies in this industry ship interfaces that feel like they were assembled from spare parts. ZenBusiness did not.

Buy it for that if that is what you want. We sell something deliberately smaller.

The Price That Changes Exactly Once

Standalone agent service, purchased apart from any formation package, opens at $99 plus state fees. Renewals after that are $199 a year.

Neither figure is concealed and both are easy enough to find. The issue is which one describes your life. An Oregon LLC needs a registered agent named on its record every year it stays registered, so year two is not a hypothetical, it is the default. You will spend one year at $99 and every subsequent year at $199, which makes $199 the number that belongs in your comparison.

Oregon Renews Too, and Its Notice Comes With No Excuse Attached

Here is the other renewal on your calendar, and it behaves very differently.

An Oregon LLC owes one report a year, the annual renewal, and it falls on the anniversary of formation. Not the anniversary month. The date. Domestic companies pay $100 for it, and the information you submit has to be current as of 30 days before that date.

The Secretary of State does mail a renewal notice, roughly 45 days ahead of time. Useful. Also entirely optional as a matter of law: never receiving it does not relieve you of the obligation to file. The state sends paper into the world and does not concern itself with whether the paper arrived. A forwarded address, an old office, a mailroom that discards government envelopes, and the notice is technically sent and practically gone, while the deadline sits exactly where it was.

There is no late fee waiting, which is the part that misleads people. What waits instead is administrative dissolution, the state closing an LLC that stopped answering. The consequence is not a charge on your account. It is the company.

So one of your two renewals raises its price on a schedule you did not choose, and the other one arrives on a date the state expects you to know without being told. Ours does neither: $99, every year, and the reminder comes from us regardless of what the mail does.

A caveat we volunteer: $90 from BetterLegal is the lowest advertised Oregon renewal we have found, which puts our $99 near the floor rather than on it. Against ZenBusiness's renewal, the yearly gap is $100.

How Oregon Records the End of a ZenBusiness Appointment

Through a filing named the Information Change (Corporation/Limited Liability Company), sent to the Corporation Division as paper, as a fax, or online through the Oregon Business Registry. Oregon's charge for processing it is $0.00.

The form's own design is what keeps the transition clean. It asks for the incoming agent, the new registered office (an Oregon street address that is also that agent's business office), and a tick in the consent box confirming the new agent agreed to serve. There is a slot for a successor and no slot for an empty seat, so the appointment transfers in one motion rather than opening a gap you would then have to close. Leave the ZenBusiness account active until the public record shows our name, then cancel it.
