There is a version of this page that pretends brand value is imaginary. It is not. LegalZoom has been at this for two decades, it has scale, it has staffed support, and naming it as your provider ends the conversation rather than starting one. If you have ever had to explain to a bank or a partner who exactly handles your corporate filings, you understand what that shortcut is worth.

$249 a Year, and It Comes Back on Its Own

That is the Oregon agent rate. It is flat, it auto-renews, and our July 2026 pass found no first-year discount reducing it. Nothing shady about any of that. It is simply the top of the range among national providers serving this state, and it repeats annually for the life of the company.

Set It Beside Oregon's Own Invoice

The useful comparison is not LegalZoom against another vendor. It is LegalZoom against the state that requires the service.

Add the state's first two rows together and Oregon's charge for creating your company and carrying it through its first year is $200. LegalZoom's charge for the agent line on that same company, for that same year, is $249. The vendor's invoice for one requirement exceeds the government's invoice for the entire entity.

That framing is not a moral complaint. Companies are entitled to price their services how they like. It is a scale check, and scale checks are the sort of thing nobody performs while clicking through a package flow.

The $99 Version of the Identical Duty

Oregon does not apply a different legal standard to expensive agents. Whoever holds the role owes you the same three things: a qualifying Oregon location, availability during business hours, and prompt delivery of anything served. Here is how we cover it.

Oregon handles this with a document called the Information Change (Corporation/Limited Liability Company). Three facts make it easier than most states' equivalents: it costs $0.00, it has no form number to track down (the Corporation Division stamps its forms with a revision date and nothing else), and it can travel by mail, by fax, or entirely online through the Oregon Business Registry.

What goes on it:

1. Your entity details. Business name as registered, plus the Oregon registry number the state assigned you.
2. The incoming agent. Name of the party taking over the role.
3. The new registered office. An Oregon street address, and it has to be the same location as that agent's own business office. Mail drops and virtual office subscriptions are not eligible addresses in this state.
4. Consent. A checkbox where the incoming agent confirms they agreed to the appointment.
5. Submission. To the Corporation Division, with nothing to pay.

Then the sequencing rule, which is the only place people go wrong. The record is meant to name a live agent at every moment, and the form gives you a field for a replacement rather than a way to resign the position into thin air. So you appoint before you cancel.
